Spay or neuter just one cat and you can save 2,000 unwanted births in just four years - that's over 2 million in eight years!

To qualify for these programs, you must fill out an application. Applications can be picked up at the Brookings Regional Humane Society. If you are approved, costs are outlined as such:

Canine Spay...................................$60
Canine Neuter................................$50
Feline Spay.....................................$50
Feline Neuter..................................$30
Vaccinations are also available for surgery patients.

WE DO NOT PROMOTE DECLAWING, TAIL-DOCKING OR ANY OTHER UNNECESSARY MUTILATION

Full payment is required before surgery can be scheduled.
Surgeries are currently being scheduled for Mondays at 2:00pm and Thursdays at 7:00pm.
(Please be aware that times and dates are subject to change but that we always do our best to update the public to these changes as soon as possible)

We request that for animals over 4 months of age, you do not feed them within 10 hours before surgery. If under 4 months of age, do not withhold food. Please do NOT withhold water from your pets.
We also request that cats and small dogs arrive secured in a carrier, and bigger dogs on leash. Please notify a staff member of any behavioral or medical issues that your pet might have.

Unless previously arranged at time of scheduling, animals must be picked up same-day or boarding fees will be applied.

Low-Income Companion Cats and Dogs:
We offer same-day sterilization (spay/neuter) surgeries for pets of low-income households.
Applicants must complete an application form (data collected will not be shared outside of medical staff members)
Costs are outlined above.

Farm/Feral Cats:
We offer same-day sterilization (spay/neuter) surgeries for farm or feral cats.
Applicants must complete an application form (data collected will not be shared outside of medical staff members)
Costs are outlined above (we have a grant allowing us to discount the cost of a feline neuter by $5 for farm/feral cats).
A live-trap is available for rent with a $20 deposit (refunded once the trap is returned).
