
Position: Afternoon Shelter Coordinator. 12-25 hours per week, depending on availability. This position is scheduled during public open hours, including 1-2 Saturdays/month. Pay is dependent on experience.
Job Description:
This dynamic role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety in their work and is passionate about animal welfare AND people! This is a public facing position. Shelter Coordinators are true multitaskers, playing a vital role in daily shelter operations.
This is a year-round, long-term position and is not seasonal or semester-only. Because shelter work is highly situational and often requires quick pivoting, learning this role takes time and experience beyond what a short-term job allows. We are seeking applicants who can commit long-term, including through the summer.
Responsibilities:

Assisting with daily shelter operations including: guiding volunteers, answering phone and emails, posting adoption biographies on various platforms

Adoption and surrender counseling

Performing basic animal medical intake

Providing excellent customer service to the public

Ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all animals in our care
Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Must be 18+

Strong communication and customer service skills

Basic knowledge of animal care and disease prevention

Experience handling animals of various sizes

1 year of animal care experience preferred

Must be available year-round, including summer and school breaks. This is not a seasonal or semester-only position.
